THE GREAT COMMISSION

Speaker: Eric Opland and Pastor Raul - Visiting missionaries from Chile

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  • Jesus' final instructions - not just for missionaries, for all of us.
  • God does not use the ABLE, He uses the AVAILABLE.

Eric & Jen Opland

  • In 11 years of service, some of the ways God has used the Oplands: start churches, preach in jungle, translated for medical teams, bible studies, building construction, discipleship, and more.
  • God takes broken things, and uses them for His glory.
  • Real workers will have DENTS in their armor - you don't want to show up in heaven in shiny armor.
  • If you don't know your spiritual gift, FIND OUT. Use it, or you are robbing the body.
  • Focus on feeding the SHEEP, not entertaining the GOATS. Fewer will come, but they will be more real.

Pastor Raul and Nina

  • 26 years in ministry at Rancagua, Chile
  • Church is independent and self-supported
  • Encountering Christians in other countries is exciting. Knowing God's Word is still being preached elsewhere is encouraging.
  • Very different to be a Christian in Chile - many Catholics and pagans, many charismatic churches. They teach experiences and emotion, no study of God's Word. True believers are often shamed by these groups.
  • Philippians 1:15-18 - To preach Christ is our joy.
  • Please pray for us and our church and the ministry there.
